How To Fix Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Wi-Fi

1. Restart Samsung Smart TV

The first thing you should do if your Samsung Smart TV is not connected to Wi-Fi is to restart your Smart TV. There are two ways to do it.

  1. First, you need to unplug the TV from the power source for at least 60 seconds. Then, plug the cable back in. Your TV will turn on and wait a while until the TV turns on completely. Hopefully, Wi-Fi will start working on your Samsung TV now.
  2. Secondly, you can use the power button on the TV remote to restart the TV. Press and hold the Power button on your remote until the TV turns off and on automatically. Wait a moment and see if the TV is connected to Wi-Fi or not.

2. Restart The Modem

Next, you also have to restart your Wi-Fi modem. To do this, simply unplug the Wi-Fi modem from the power source. Often times, the first two solutions are enough to fix Wi-Fi problems on Samsung Smart TVs.

3. Check Wi-Fi Password

If this is your first time connecting to Wi-Fi on your Samsung Smart TV, make sure you type in the correct password for your Wi-Fi.

So, when the on-screen keyboard appears, activate the checkbox next to show password. This will ensure that you type the correct password.

4. Reduce the number of devices connected to Wi-Fi

Most Wi-Fi modems have a limit on the number of devices that can connect to them. The more devices you connect to a particular Wi-Fi network, the weaker the signal.

So, if you are having internet problems on your Samsung TV, you will have to disconnect some other devices connected to your Wi-Fi network.

5. Connect to 2.4 GHz

Another simple solution to fix Wi-Fi problems on Samsung TVs is to connect to a 2.4 GHz network instead of 5Ghz.

6. Re-add the Wi-Fi network

You should also try forgetting the Wi-Fi network on your TV and re-adding it to fix the Wi-Fi not working issue.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Settings button on your Samsung TV remote to open the Settings.
  2. Alternatively, press the Settings button on your TV’s home screen. It is located in the far left corner of the main tab.
  3. Go to General > Network.
  4. Then, go to open network settings.
  5. Select Wireless.
  6. The wireless connection screen will appear. Go to manage saved networks.
  7. Select the network you want to delete and then press the Delete option.
  8. With the Wi-Fi network removed, follow steps 1-4 again until you screen the wireless connection. Select the Wi-Fi you want to connect to and enter the password. Hopefully, Wi-Fi will start working on your TV.

7. Move the TV closer to the Router

If Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting or you can’t see the Wi-Fi network on your Samsung TV, make sure the TV and modem are within compatible range.

You can check the network strength by going to Settings >General > Network > Open Network Settings > Wireless. Here you will see the available Wi-Fi networks.

The Wi-Fi network you are connected to will display a check mark icon next to it. Check the number of Wi-Fi bars that appear next to network. More bars indicate better networking.

Samsung recommends keeping the TV and router within 15.2 m of each other for the proper functioning of the Wi-Fi network on the Smart TV.

So, you have to move them close to each other or add a wireless extender/booster between them to increase the Wi-Fi range.

8. Check date and time

Many users face Wi-Fi issues due to incorrect date and time on their Samsung TVs. This happens due to different date and Time settings in the router and TV.

  1. Go to Settings on your TV.
  2. Open General > System Manager.
  3. Go to time.
  4. Press the clock option.
  5. Press the clock Mode option. If it says Manual, switch it to automatic. And, if it says automatic, switch to Manual and enter the date and time manually.
