How to edit photos on HP Samsung
Here’s how to edit photos on a Samsung phone using Samsung’s default Gallery application, meaning you don’t need to use third-party applications.
1. Crop Photos
You can crop freely or choose from the standard options available. Open the photo to be cropped in the Samsung Gallery and tap the pencil icon. By default, the photo will open crop mode. Use the edges of the photo to crop the photo as per your requirement.
To crop in a standard size, tap Free text under the first tab. Then select crop size.
2. Rotate and flip photos
You can easily rotate and flip photos using this Samsung Gallery app.
Enter photo editing mode. Tap the Rotate and flip icons under the first tab to rotate and flip the respective photo.
3. Resize Photos
Samsung’s Gallery app also offers the ability to resize photos. When the photo is in edit mode, tap the three-dot icon at the top and select Resize. Select the resize percentage from the available options.
4. View Original Photos
Anytime, while editing a photo if you want to compare it with the original photo, just touch and hold the photo. It will display a preview of the original photo.
5. Change Filter Intensity
Samsung Gallery offers some interesting filters right inside the app. In editing mode, tap the second tab next to the crop tab. Here you will find various filters.
Tap the one that will be applied to your photo. Use the slider below the filter to adjust the intensity of the filter. If you want to remove an applied filter, tap the first filter known as original.
6. Download New Filters
If you don’t like the existing filters offered by Samsung’s Gallery app, you don’t need to switch to a third-party photo editor. You can download more filters in the Samsung Gallery app.
For that, go to the Filters tab under photo editing mode. Scroll to the far right of the filter list. Here you will see the Download icon. Tap on it. You will be taken to the camera and Photo Effects screen where you will find various filters. Install the ones you like.
7. Add photos on top of other photos

Open the photo in editing mode. Tap the Stickers tab at the bottom and hit the gallery icon. You will be able to select the new photo that you want to add to the existing photo.
Tap a photo to add it. Once the photos are added, You can reposition, resize, and rotate. Similarly, you can add multiple photos to one photo.
8. Doodle On Photo
If you want to draw on your photos, you can do it easily from the Samsung Gallery app. When editing a photo, tap the Doodle tab at the bottom and select a brush color from the available options. Alternatively, tap the color picker icon to select a color from the photo.
You can even change the brush size and style. Simply, tap the Brush icon to do so. Similarly, you can adjust the size of the eraser. Tap the Eraser icon twice to activate the size setting.
9. Add Text
On the photo editing screen, go to the Text tab to add text to your image. Start typing the text in the box provided. You can change the text color, font style, alignment, and background color from the options available on the screen.
10. Add Color Pop-Up Effect
You’ve probably seen the color pop-up effect where one item in the image is colored and the rest are monochrome. You can add the same effect inside the Samsung Gallery app.
Enter photo editing mode and tap the three dots icon at the top. Select Spot Color from the menu.
Tap the item whose color you want to display. If some other item also appears in the color, you can erase the color using the eraser tool at the bottom.
11. Create collages and GIFs
Both are the only features you’ll find outside of editing mode. Open the Samsung Gallery app and tap the three dots icon at the top.
Choose to create from the menu followed by GIF or collage depending on your needs. Then select the image you want to use for your GIF or collage and edit as per your need.
12. Change Background Effects
For photos taken in Portrait mode, you get the ability to change the background blur and even the effect. Open the Portrait mode photo in the Samsung Gallery app. You will see the Change Background Effect option at the bottom. Tap on it.
On the next screen, using the options available at the bottom, you can change the background effect.
13. Save The Original Photo After Editing
Usually, when you finish editing a photo in the Samsung Gallery app, you will tap on the Save option at the top. However, it will replace the original copy with the edited photo.
If you want to keep the edited photo while keeping the original copy, tap the three dots icon inside edit mode. Select Save copy from the menu.
