How to create a Hotspot on a Windows 11 Laptop

How to create a Hotspot in Windows 11 via Settings App

How to quickly create a hotspot on Windows 11 PC/laptop is through the Settings app. Here are the steps to take to enable hotspot on Windows 11 laptop:

1. Push button Win+i simultaneously on the keyboard to open Agan Settings app.

2. On the Settings page, click Network & amp; internet on the left side of the panel.

3. Now, go to the right side of the page, scroll down and turn it on Mobile hotspot.

This will ensure that when no devices are connected to your PC, mobile hotspot is disabled by default.

4. If you are using a Mobile hotspot for the first time, be sure to name your Hotspot and add a password. This will make your connection secure from unauthorized access. For this, scroll down to the bottom and under the section Properties, click Edit.

5. In Edit network info, open field Network name and add the name you want, which is easy to remember. Then, in the field Network password, add a password of at least 8 characters. Press Save to save the changes.

Exit the Settings app and now you have successfully activated the hotspot on your Windows 11 laptop.

How to create a Hotspot in Windows 11 via Command Prompt

You can also create a hotspot on Windows 11 PC/laptop manually, namely through the Command Prompt. Here are the steps you should take:

1. Push button Win+R simultaneously on your keyboard to open a dialog box Run.

2. In the Run dialog box, type cmd and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys together on your keyboard to launch an elevated Command Prompt window.

3. After that type the command below and press the Enter key:

netsh wlan show drivers

This will help you know if your laptop supports virtual hotspots or not.

4. Close the Command Prompt and reopen it again following Step 1 and Step 2 with administrative rights.

Now, type the command below in the Command Prompt:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid= key=

  • SSID is the name of your Network. Give any name as you wish Agan after the sign =
  • Key is the password. enter your password here after the =sign

4. Now, copy and paste the command below and hit Enter to start the Hosted Network You created above, with the SSID as TechEmpty :

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

If a message appears saying “the hosted network mode has been set to allow“. This means that the above command was successfully executed.

5. Now, before you proceed to share your laptop internet with other devices, here you can view the virtual hotspot properties by running the command below and press Enter:

netsh wlan show hostednetwork

This command will pull all the information on the created host network.

6. Now, to share Wi-Fi with other devices, proceed with the steps in the following. Press the shortcut key Win+R to open the Run dialog.

7. Then tap ncpa.cpl and press OK to open the window Network Connection.

8. In the Network Connections window, right-click on active internet connection and choose Properties.

9. Now, in the Properties dialog box, go to the tab Sharing and check the box next to Allow other network users to connect through this computer ‘ s network connection. Then select Home networking connection from the drop-down. Press OK to Save Changes and exit.
